Celebrate National Cheesecake Day at Eli’s Cheesecake World on Thurday, July 29th « Eli's Cheesecake

National Cheesecake Day at Eli's Cheesecake--July 29

I'd give anything to be there. Hopefully I can find a little Eli's cheesecake here in St. Louis. My late grandfather and Eli were friends, and I spent many a day in the old Eli's restaurant in downtown Chicago both with my Grandfather and later in life with the legendary Howard Bedno.

But back to the cheesecake. Eli's is perhaps the best on the planet, followed only by Junior's in Brooklyn. If you can find a grocery store or restaurant that carries Eli's cheesecake, you owe it to yourself to try it. And if you're anywhere near Eli's Cheesecake World, make plans to visit the epicenter of all things cheesecake.

You, Yes YOU, Can Help Save The Chicago Cubs

This is the horror of being a Cubs fan in 2010.

Please share this link with every person you have ever come into contact with. http://bit.ly/fixthecubs. it will take them to a group dedicated to saving the Cubs.  Of course, the idea is to put me in charge of the Chicago National League Ballclub.  I certainly couldn't mess it up any more than it is now.

Thank you for your sharing and joining the groundswell.

20 Years Ago Today

I have a disability.  I'm legally blind.

I don't let it get in the way of my life, largely because my parents taught me that I could do anything I wanted to do, and for the most part that's the case.  The only thing I can't do is drive a car, and while its a massive inconvenience, its far from the end of the world.

Twenty years ago today, The Americans With Disabilities Act was signed into law.  it gave one in five Americans rights they never had before, and changed millions of people's lives.

Is the act perfect?  No.  Is it well intentioned?  Yes.  Does it change stereotypes and misconceptions about the disabled?  Unfortunately not.  But its been a huge assist to people who need it in countless ways.

Sometimes Government gets it right, and the ADA is a great start.  Two decades after it went into law, there is still a way to go before society accepts the disabled and appreciates the contributions we make every day.  Please take 30 seconds and watch the video below.

For those who have benefited from the ADA, congratulations.  For those who have gained a greater understanding of the disabled and what being disabled really means, thank you.  And for those who still don't "get it", I pray for you.

Deep Fried Klondike Bar | FOODBEAST - Because we're hungry.

Like we mentioned earlier, this is the time of the year where all the delicious state and county fair pictures of crazy food start rolling in. Here we have a picture of a deep fried Klondike bar, with some apparent drizzle of more chocolate on top, with some powdered sugar. Game over? Just might be! (PicThx TIWYH)

Bite Me Pop Art Toaster

This toaster does magical things to your toast. It puts the words ‘bite me’ into the toast, so you can let you’re girlfriend know what you really want to say, without saying it. If only they could make a toaster that you could change the message every time. I would take everyone I know toast with secret messages in it. (Thx IncredibleThings)

If anything ever was going to convince me to join the carnival circuit, this might just be it. Notice the entire array of menu choices.
